I'm just getting ready to do a reno in my basement, and was wondering if anyone had some insight into keeping concrete flooring exposed and sealing it. I live in Vancouver Canada, and it gets somewhat cold. Heating source is baseboard heating and the space is roughly 1200 square feet. I was originally going to do laminate flooring - but for design purposes I think the concrete with a seal will fit the space better (wood beams exposed and brick wall). I will obviously use a lot of rugs, but I'm wondering if anyone has concrete floors in their basement and how hard it is to heat them without having radiant heating in the floors. I have just pulled the rug and it doesn't feel damp and seems to be a decent temperature. Any advice with a good sealant to keep moisture and dampness away - but also possibly keep heat in? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks
