the only time i ever used any type of insect control was when i was first starting my cutting 4yrs ago and had some spider mites on the young trees in the house. i had used neem oil aka; All Season Oil. since then i have never had to apply anything else as i have never noticed any insects on the trees. my trees are grown in large pots and placed in a unheated garage during the winter.

Thank you! Mine are in an unheated three seasons porch but it's been so mild that I have to watch for bugs now that they productively growing indoors..Arg..

Knock on wood no pest problems in unheated garage ever.

When outside during season i use the greasy stuff for ants other than the ocassional yellow jacket i swat them.

Mine are all outside today getting their first dose of sun to get use to it by April so they won't burn..It's 55 today and I sprayed them all with water! I figured out what was making some of my new leaves fall off..SLUGS of all pests in my cold room..YUK! I killed them all though.

An old remedy that helps for slugs is a tray with beer set at the bottom of tree.

A neighbor across the street used that for a small ornamental tree out front of his house and said it helped.
