The dining area looks too crowded. Is there a possibility of removing pieces that are not needed? There must be a clearance of 48" from edge of table to the line of obstruction to provide comfortable seating. You don't necessarily have to have 6 chairs - is this the formal dining? Have you thought of using a bench on one side?

First thing is to take everything out of the room except the table and chairs. It is too crowded with stuff. The rug is too small. I doubt that you will have any room to bring back the larger pieces. You need at least 24" on each side of table to pull out chairs for sitting down. Once everything is out take another photo and we can see where to go. Also untie the drapes and let them hang straight.

Yes I agree, I removed the two smaller tables, the dresser and the rug. I have considered a bench but what would I do with the chairs? I really like the chairs! Also what should I do about the China cabinet? Because its the biggest problem right now..Thanks!

I took a lot of it out. The mini fridge can't be moved, it'd actually like to integrate it into maybe a bar/China cabinet? And what should I do with the hutch? Is it out of date? Why untie the drapes? Thank you!

I also like the tables and chairs. Do not get a bench. It is not saving that much space. Unfortunately, the china has to be moved. There is just not room for it. I am not sure what you can do with it. Put on Craigslist or take to re-sell shop. Pack up the contents, keep what you use and find another area to store them. With such a small area, you do not have room for a buffet or any cabinet to be able to have them in the same area.

If you have to keep the small fridge, then maybe paint it so it looks nicer and put a potted plant on it. Untie the drapes because they look bad like that.

Get a nice piece of art for where the china is. This area can look nice.

How many entrances are there to the dining room? Unless you could close one off, and use that wall for the china cabinet, you might have to store it. There is simply too much furniture in that small space.

There is definitely too much furniture but there is no way I could put something else in place of the hutch or around the table to store stuff? Or is the table and chairs so big that it should be on its own in the room?

Is a small china cabinet in the budget? One that would fit where dresser was...then you could get rid of your cabinet and would have a place to store most of what's in there.

Katie, Can you give me the dimensions of the space.. I will do a plan and you and everyone else will know if anything will fit other than the table and chairs. I think the table is about 42 wide? And how long?

Is there another place for the china hutch? Those things are expensive and they are great storage. I wouldn't want to see you get rid of it. Maybe a wall in the living room or hallway? A guest bedroom or den?

Here's an idea and you could keep the table but get rid of your bulky chairs.

OK, here is your space and your table and chairs. I have also put in rug that is 7x9 and a console that is 16" wide. The 2 bars are the 2 feet you need to pull out the chairs for sitting down.

Even with the console it is a tight squeeze. You can get consoles that are 12-16" but I doubt if you can find a cabinet that narrow.

Because the space is small I do not recommend that you get any large heavy furniture in there even if it fits. You are closing up the space and it will look crowded and overwhelming. A simple narrow console with some art above it will be all you need.
