Thank you! Yes, deck is installed on top of original concrete.

When installing the decking, did you use a screwless decking system (I cannot see any screws in the photo)? Also did you put down sleepers under the decking or place the decking right ontop of the concrete? Thank you! We are looking at doing the same thing for our Eichler. Cheers.

Peter - Careful if you use real wood (Ipe or other south american hardwoods)...that wood needs breathing space below otherwise the bottom is subjected to too much humidity and has the tendency to wrap boards - even if they're screwed and glued down. We use composite decking (Trex etc) on sleepers over slab for this very reason. Just a heads up. I witnessed a brand new massaranbuda (brazilian mahogany?) deck literally peel off its sleepers on one job site where we were doing carpentry work. This was only 3-4 months after it had been installed and clear coated (both sides and all cut ends).

Hi Peter - There are sleepers under the decking and they are screwed in (hard to see in photo). So far we haven't had any issues and it's been about 4 years. Good luck with your project. Go Eichler owners! :)
