Landscaping would help as would beefing up the posts on the porch. When you get new siding or paint it, choose a somewhat darker color to de-emphasize the white. Then paint the front door a nice color--perhaps teal or lime green. Just because the lock doesn't work is no reason to replace the door.

I think a dark royal blue door would look really good. Also, the pillars could be bigger -- I don't think 'wrapping' them should cost a fortune. And the biggest change would come from landscaping, I think. I can see grasses looking gorgeous against the house. It would pay you to bring in a landscaper in to give you a basic design, and then you could do the planting yourself, bit by bit. It would especially help to make the wing to the right less plain.

It's a handsome house, I think. It really won't take a lot to make it much more pleasing to you. The roof is great, by the way. Good choice.

If the siding needs to be replaced soon, you can look at using James Hardie. We would recommend Lap siding on the back and sides and James Hardie Shake across the upper front as well as making the front porch posts larger and more substantial.
