Just bought a Wisteria plant

I just got a Wisteria plant from a local store. I bought it to provide shade at my chicken coop as well as add some color to the yard. The problem I have is I live where there is nothing but clay. I have done some reading and found that that is probably not suitable for the plant. So to over come this I have a 16in square (inside) concrete planter. The walls are 3-1/2in thick and stands about 16in tall and it does not have a bottom.

My question is can I plant my Wisteria in side this planter with some really good dirt with out hearting it's groth and flowering ?

I live in North East Oklahoma zip 74018.

The first thing that comes to mind is that it gets cold here with this planter above ground will I have to worry about this plant freezing in the winter?

Will there be enough room for the roots?
