Looks interesting. I think the quilting on the sample makes a big impact.

I just watched the video and was thinking I'd like to try this quilt, but like you I can't get the star points. I'll try again another time.

I just watched the video again and tried to zero in on the finished quilt. Those star ends looked squared off to me, not crisp points as we usually see in star blocks. Maybe it is the nature of the block that you don 't get points.

I guess I'm biased against squared-off star points, so I've got to try to figure out how to make them sharp. I'm also going to change the width of the strips - narrow them down and see if that helps. I'm a terrible mathematician/engineer. I think what I'll have to do is not take the bottom of the strip to the exact lower corner of the square, I'll have to make it a quarter of an inch shy there so that I'm not chopping off the point. (Hard to explain here.) I'm glad I have enough scrap stash to test without getting into my "good" fabric.

I am sure you will figure out a way to do it. Go for it!

Yes, I figured it out. When you lay the strip on the square, put the top just like she did, at 2 inches from the top corner, but at the bottom, instead of lining it up right at the lower corner, come up about a quarter of an inch as it crosses the edge above the corner. (This kind of stuff is so hard to explain in words, I need to start making my own videos! LOL!) This makes the end pointed and also gives enough room for seam allowance for sewing on the adjacent blocks. I'm changing the pattern a little (as usual) and I made a block the size that she made for the middle but I'm making half-size blocks to go around it. Sort of a medallion quilt. So I had to figure out how wide to cut the strips and also had to change the measurement of where to put the strips across the square. It took me so long to figure this out, I'm so engineering-challenged.
