I grow both Villa Taranto and Kinshi myself. Some of the linearilobum types are a little more delicate than your standard JM......I would include Kinshi and something like Fukinigashi or Baby Lace in that category (yes, I know Baby Lace is really a dissectum but it still has those very narrow and delicate linearilobum-type leaves). These seem to stress out more than normal in full sun situations and IME, are also a bit more vulnerable to wind and cold temps. I'd site in a somewhat protected location.

OTOH, selections like Villa Taranto, Scolopendrifolium and Red Cloud seem to be as tough as nails once established.

Thanks for the heads up got a partially shaded area in my garden but for some reason my crimson Queen didn't agree now she's in a completely shaded area and never Neen healthier. Glad to here there hardy I seem to get better results with my dissectums rather than than trees. We can get all the seasons in one in Scotland but fingers crossed they stay good. Thanks again
