Winter, ice and emerging bulbs

Only because it is a constant concern.
Spring bulbs are very resistant to any damage by Winter weather. New gardeners often wonder if they must be covered. Usually, even if in bloom, they will do fine.
I do have some flowers, though, that don't respond as well. My Korean Rhododendron, R. mucronulatum, is often blasted by cold wind or rain, as are the blooms of some Magnolias.
