Wine bar placement?

Next tweak to my plans. I'm doing this now as it may affect the build process.

This is a vacation/retirement place. Mostly for hubby and I and the occasional small gathering. There will be a larger eating area on the back porch for 8.

The kitchen will be tweaked I'm sure but will remain size and locale.

So the wine and cocktail hutch is my baby. It needs to be at least 6 feet wide to accommodate my bare minimums. I have a large collection of glassware and craft cocktail gear. When we do host for dinner the wine and cocktail service is just as important as the food. The buffet will have a fridge but no sink. There is a full wine cellar in the basement.

Currently I have the buffet in the dining area. The dining area is 8'x12'. The wall where I show the buffet in the drawing does not need to be there. I added it so I could have a wall for the buffet. If I move the buffet to my other possible spot I will get rid of the wall.

My other possible option is to shrink the pantry and put the wine buffet on that wall facing the great room. I love that big pantry but I think it will still be a great size. It will end up 7'10" X 7' if I move that top wall to recess wine buffet in that wall.

I'm thinking of something similar to this.

What is the reason for no sink? We have a dry bar and think it would be soooo much better with a small bar sink. My parents have a bar sink and it really gets used, especially when making cocktails...for rinsing hands, dampening a cloth for a spill, etc.

Where does the cocktail drinking take place? I think it will be crowded in the dining room and if cocktail hour has folks milling around - it would seem to make more sense in the great room area

And - at a large party, it would certainly remove any bottlenecks if the buffet were on the dining table.

And agree on the sink -if for nothing else to have some water to run on a rag to wipe up sugar / lemon juice / miscellaneous spillage

I think a cocktail bar is a great idea, by the way and love that you enjoy that aspect of the dinner party too! I am not much of a mixologist, but wish I were!

I think your dining room is too small for the bar.

I am trying again, I have responded to everyone posts and it just disappears as soon as I hit submit!

No sink due to budget mostly, plus I don't really like to look at a sink in the great room. I've learned how to function without so won't miss what I've never had I guess.

Cocktails and wine will be mostly with meals when it's just us, when we have guests it may be more out on the covered porch and the dining area.

I've moved it and think y'all are right, works better there but is it odd to have right outside the master?

When we entertain I tend to batch mix a couple of standard cocktails a few days in advance (I store in swing top bottles) and then have the fixings for a signature drink to go with the meal, plus wine. It's my favorite part of the meal lol, hubby does the menu and then I focus on cocktails and dessert.
