My mini from Walmart :)

I bought a bunch of leftover Valentine's miniature roses. Some that looked pretty bad and one or two that looked pretty good. Here are some pictures of the one that is doing really well. :)

Her name is Olive. She likes to smell the roses when I make bouquets. I'm lucky she doesn't eat them. Ha.

I hope you enjoy your mini rose(s).

Olive is such a gorgeous kitty! :) I love black cats.

I'll probably keep them in pots. I have two spots along our walkway but I wanted to put larger roses. I love peach and lavender roses so if I can find some I'd like to plant those in those spots. :) Do you have any mini roses at the moment?

I purchased a lavender mini rose from the market that I think is LAMY. It died for some reason unknown to me. It's my favorite color, but lavender roses seem extra sensitive to heat and cold.

If you want a floribunda lavender, LOVE SONG is highly recommended on this forum. If you want a miniflora, LAVENDER CRYSTAL is highly praised.

I do like miniature roses, because they bloom so often. If you've never purchased grocery store minis before, you'll discover they usually have four plants in one pot. I was advised to keep them together, but they seemed to need more air circulation when they got older. I soaked the root ball and divided them up and gave some to a friend. Grocery store minis are a great bargain.

I have a very small garden with 19 roses, 7 of which are the following minis:

    BABY AUSTIN

    GIGI (grocery store purchase)

    HEATHER SPROUL

    JASMINA KORDANA (grocery store purchase)

    MARRIOTTA

    OLIVIA ROSE

    PEPPERMINT KISSES

There is no photograph on the Help Me Find Roses website of Peppermint Kisses. It is a new rose for me, so as soon as it blooms, I will post a photo. I have all my minis in the ground, but if I see others I like (and I'm sure I will), they will go into pots, because I'm out of space.

It seems like the certain colors of flowers I like are sensitive too. :\ I like the lavender roses also but figured they may not do well where I live. It gets into the 100's many times during the summer. I also like the Cherie hibiscuses and apparently those can be finicky too. I just like colors other than plan red and pink.

Your mini was beautiful. I'm sorry it didn't make it. You're right though mini roses are a bargain. The last one I bought was a left over from valentines and it was $0.02! :) So I hope it makes it. I'm not sure what types they all are but I have red and pink ones. If the others start blooming I'll post pictures also. I bet your garden is beautiful with all of those roses. :) I would like to get a Gigi. They're so pretty!

Gigi sells quickly, but if you keep your eyes open, you are likely to see it eventually. It's a keeper. I have my eyes on Alakazam, although it's on back order. It's not a grocery store bargain, but I'm missing a yellow and I like the stripes. My friend has two of them arriving in April, so I will post a photo of hers when they bloom.

I can't believe you got a rose for $0.02. Great deal. I went to Walmart tonight, but they didn't have a single mini. You never know what you will find.

My GiGi died this winter. We were out of town for three weeks and the person I had watering the pots must have missed GiGi completely because it didn't survive. I'm on the lookout for another one. I'm hopeful at Easter or Mother's Day Walmart will have it back in.

Sorry to hear that Beth. In addition to Walmart, I've seen Gigi at supermarkets. Do you have a Vons (Safeway) or Trader Joe's?

+jasminerose4u Yeah I bought one of those roses almost every time I went just to see the price drop lol When it said $0.02 I felt like the millionth customer lol :D

I've seen pictures of Gigi's on here and they are beautiful. Now I want one! :)

I need to start repotting some of my mini's. There was so much dead stuff I had to remove I didn't want to shock them and move them too. A few of the plants didn't make it. You know how you say there's multiple plants in each pot. That's what I mean. Each pot had at least half of them make it.

When the stem starts turning brown that's when it's dying right? I know some plants have woody looking stems. I didn't know if this was the case with these also.

This mini is doing so well. I can't wait for the others to start blooming. Maybe I will plant them along my walk way. Just have a bunch of them with different colors mixed together. :)

Wow, beautiful red! It seems very happy.

Yes, when a cane turns brownish black, I've never seen it turn back to green. Older canes that turn woody look like the color of bark, not black.
