This is exactly what I need.

This landscape is stunning! I live in WV and constructed a swale in October to help with storm runoff. We broadcasted a rain garden seed mix in hopes of getting some cover, but what you have done here is my dream. Could you give recommend any resources? You have done such a beautiful job!

    Hello,

    Thank you for the
compliments and your interest in our work. Given the difference in climate and geography, it’s challenging to
make any specific recommendations—but these ideas might help. We did
work with a local civil engineer for the depth & size of swale and specific
soil mix. We started with 4” plants and some smaller plugs; planting at the
bottom of the swale with plants that could take periodic flooding and standing
water and then up the sides with 4” and 1 gallon ornamental grasses and
strappy-leaf plants to achieve the ornamental effect. There is irrigation
when needed, as we have both a rainy season, and a long dry season. We used
boulders and stepping stones in a few different ways to achieve the bridges.

    Good luck and thank you!
