The Cal. Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society will have its annual flower show and Plant sale at Oakland, California's Lakeside Garden Center, 666 Bellevue Ave, Oakland, April 2, Noon to 4 pm. There will be hundreds of flowers in all colors of the rainbow, including miniature plants and trees with 2-foot leaves. Come prepared to be overwhelmed by the fragrance of these flowers. Native to the mountains of China, Tibet, India, Bhutan, and Sikkim, these plants are fast disappearing in the wild, as their natural habitat is being destroyed. The tropical rhododendron garden and the outdoor rhododendron garden will be open to the public.
