I have been looking at LVP for our home, I've seen some real nice looking samples....but have not yet seen in an actual room. I think it'd be real durable and a practical solution as it can be in all rooms.

@Gina Costello - The image above is LVP that we and a collaborator installed, so maybe that can offer you an idea of some sort. Thanks for commenting!

I've seen nice-looking LVP floors. Unfortunately fading would be a deal breaker for us as to installing it in most rooms. I live in Southern CA, and our house has large windows and three large skylights.

Vinyl can change color with exposure to sunlight, but so can all flooring. Most higher quality vinyl plank products have some form of UV protection in their finish, which will help slow down the process. Otherwise, some kind of window covering solution for peak sunlight hours is the best prevention.

Here are some photos of vinyl plank in rooms. As mentioned, some products look more realistic than others. These are from the Modin Collection, which comes in a 9" wide, 60" long plank, with an industry leading 40 mil wear-layer:

I don't care how good looking it is, it reminds me of a 'nursing home'.

I've had it for a month and like it a lot. I have the "HD" with stamped in grooves and knots so it looks very realistic. The lack of worry about my dog scratching up wood floors overcame my aversion to "vinyl."

We put it our home as we are in the process of building and we thought that we would reuse some if in our guest house when they start building. I HATE it!!! We live near the beach in Del Mar and have 2 dogs and 4 kids. It always looks dirty, shows EVERYTHING. You can clean the floors and 10 minutes later it shows every footprint etc. they do lift and dent. White grout on a floor is easier to keep clean.

They do lift. Water got under ours and rotted the subfloor.
