Foundation/Framing

I have almost the same exact house and I'd love to do something very similar! I bought the home I was raised in from my parents and now MY family is outgrowing our house. This looks so amazing!

My question is: Did you have to make any adjustments to the existing foundation or framing on the main level in order to support the additional weight of the pop top addition? And I'm sure it's taboo to ask, but how much did this cost (ballpark?)??

    John,

Thanks for your interest in our project, and your kind words. The areas of the existing house already had an adequate foundation and footing for the parts we added - we had to investigate that early in the project. Of course, we poured new footings and foundations for the parts of the project that were either outside the original perimeter, or part of the pre-existing carport.

At the homeowner's request, I cannot give out the cost of the project. But, as you can probably already guess, it was extensive.
