Try rotating the wall piece to a vertical position and put the little table (behind the buffet) underneath it...also switch the arm chairs to the ends of the table and the armless chairs to the corners..another option would be to change the glass shades on the light fixtures to a golden color instead of white...on each side of the buffet a couple pictures stacked vertically will bring some interest to that wall..perhaps botanical prints or family photos in nice frames of equal size and shape

Another nice addition to the windows..if you like the lace would be to add lace sheers behind and between the drapes...and if you decrease the size of the lace tablecloth to leave maybe 6" of the ends of the table exposed....would be an interesting and more modern twist...

Gosh, I wish that I would have posted pictures of the remodel because. We already purchased the Hinckley Bola collection light fixtures. Very expensive, and now that the lights are installed, we cannot return them. This collection was installed throughout all rooms in the house except the bedrooms and family room. Wondering if I now made a mistake. How can I tie this altogether? Help please!!!

You have two postings going, it's getting confusing.

I think the light fixtures are fine and the quality is obvious..the underlying problem here is that your style has not really been established here..all of the suggestions are good but any changes need to further a theme that says who You are..all new additions need to enhance what is already there or can't be changed...everyone is trying to draw you into a more modern aesthetic....is that where you want to go?...

You hit the nail right on the head. Thank you. The house we were lit the house we live in was built in the 70s. We love the golden oak would work, it also like the fixtures we put in which our traditional/modern. We want to be a little bit more traditional because we also like the cozy feeling. Just do not know how to put it altogether. Suggestions please.

It might look nice to add a long narrow console type table under the sconces. It could double as a serving buffet at gatherings. Hang a rather large picture above it. It should be only 6 or 8 inches over the console table. It would be great if you could find something with some color! This table is probably too modern for you but I wanted to give you a visual. If you have room you could do a thin buffet cabinet instead of a table.

I agree. Add a narrow console/side board under the plates. Perhaps choose a large painting for that wall. Paint window trim and crown molding white. Change curtains, maybe to a linen curtain.

Since there are three posts with different input.... it would also help if you re-post all your other photos again on this post..including the bedroom...so that comments and suggestions can come from viewing as much of your space as possible...the living room photos have lots potential for re-arrangement improvements and maybe even some editing if you also advise us how many people you need to seat on a regular basis in the living room

On regular basis, it is only husband and myself at our home. But when our immediate family is all home sometimes on weekends and the majority of holidays we have anywhere from 25 to 30 in our home.

Photos are perfect...Also need the photos of the living room area posted elsewhere...the living room will be the challenge ..if you have lots of guests occasionally there may be a way to maximize your seating and still make it comfortable for just two the rest of the time..at this time can't even imagine that many people in this space at one time!..how big is the kitchen?...do you put the children in there?

I like what you have done with the bedroom but have no view of the other walls and door ....is there room to move the dresser away from the window more ....and put the little side table on the other side of it?..

Also the previous suggestion to remove the ties from the curtains was a good idea...while pushing the curtains as far open as possible (so they hang straight) will be more elegant and will allow the interest in the valance to show better as the focal point..with no competition of angles and detail in the curtains to compete.. Fresher and newer look

Maybe including some images from our design portfolio will help things along.
