When would be the right time to bring it in?

I bring my 25 potted rose trees in the attached, insulated garage when the temp drops around 30F. I just move them all out today! :-) I am in zone 6a, warmer than you.

Patty, I am happy to report my 6 Canadian rose trees also winter hardy same as my Polar Joys! :-) They're Carefree Sunshine and Sunrise Vigorosa (grafted trees).

I did the pot shuffle this year for the first time, guided along by a facebook friend who does this every year for his extensive collection of potted Hybrid Teas in Ohio. What he's told me is that you MUST leave them out to experience some cold before bringing them in, so that they get the signals to go dormant. But, you also don't want them experiencing cold so extreme that it causes severe damage. The number he gave me was 25F -- when the nighttime low goes below that, they should be brought inside. But leave them out up until that time, so they go to sleep. And check extended forecasts for Spring -- when nighttime lows stay above 25F, they can be brought out again.

summer I wonder if they would be hardy here. Do you mind if I ask where you found them as standards? Where they only graphed at the bottom? Too many questions I know. I really want to get Carefree Sunshine anyway.

I found them at a Farmer's Market nearby, I can call them tomorrow to find out more info for you. They were 36"+ tall rose trees in 5 gal pots, really heavy. I want to find out where they ordered them from too. The trunk looks like some kind of rugosa, they were grafted on top not at the bottom. I will take some photos for you when they are in bloom later. Here are the photos of the tree tags.
