Phal bloom colour changing

My phal put out another flower spike before I had a chance to repot it (I had asked about repotting on this forum previously). I came in this morning to two open blooms and they are yellow!

The last flower spike had white flowers (with pink spots). The funny thing is, when it bloomed white last time I asked my coworker, "Weren't these flowers yellow last time?" but she couldn't remember. So now it has gone yellow, to white, to back to yellow.

The plant is in the same building, same conditions (pot, planting medium, etc), south facing window, watered on the same schedule. What can cause this change to occur? I really like the yellow blooms, so if it's something I've done to cause it I would like to try and keep it going!

I can't comment on why perhaps the flower color has changed, but that's definitely a beauty the way it is!

Is it possible that they fade to white? I have a couple of phals that open yellow and fade to white.

I have one that had white flowers with some park purple, last bloom. This new spike has much more purple and less white. Strange.

Monique, not so strange. The term is Harlequin Phalaenopsis because spots and blotches of colour vary from bloom to bloom and are different each flowering, but the colours do not change. Google Harlequin Phalaenopsis and look at the images.

Suzabanana - no, they came out white the last time and bright yellow this time. No fading.

Harawlins - I know, right?? It's a wild little plant that keeps blooming non-stop all year round. Obviously a happy orchid, but creeps my coworkers out a little.
