You need to know the dimensions of your area, the height of the water outlets and drain, whether you need a gas or electric vented or unvented dryer....i like my compact electrolux washer and GE compact vented electric dryer. I needed compact for my space...

Frigidaire and Electrolux have pairs that you can get near or below $1600 in electric. Take a look at the EIFLW50LIW and matching dryer or the FFFW5100PW. They are solid machines.

The LG base models can be had for less than that as well. Just make sure you have service in your area on either brand before committing to anything! That often times makes all the difference.
