run cabinets all the way to the small wall on the left. Have counter continue and when you get past the window put high cabinets like you have in other places in the kitchen. (Leave equal spacing around the window). This will make a great bar that can be used for entertaining and with just a few decorative things will look nice the rest of the time!

That was my thought but the counter top is already cut on the existing cabinets which means I would have to run cabinets under the window lower then the regular counter height in order to add a counter top. Any suggestions there?

I noticed that the countertop was already in too. If it were me, I would eat the cost of that small piece of counter and have them run it along the cabinets all the way to the left wall. It would look sweet.

Are you sure about that? If you can get the same countertop, I wonder if it could just be a seam. I'm not an expert, but I'd check with the countertop fabricator to see what the options are.

I would take the hit and replace the countertop with a full length one. If that is out of the question, then a more intentional height difference, like adding a bench seat, would look better than a small drop. But that would throw off the eating area, right?

Or a long built in bench with art left of window or built ins. Couldn't find the right pic, but some ideas in each of these to borrow from:

You can do something like this also make the same on the other side of the window to make that symmetrical look and next to the wall you can have open shelves instead of a cabinet.

Wow! GN, that looks awesome! I would totally do what they recommended.

IF you go with a continuous counter (my recommendation as well), see if you can save the small counter you are having taken out. You might be able to use it on a bar cart or dresser or coffee table somewhere. Maybe make an outdoor bar and use that as the top.

auntthelma has a good point about repurposing, even if it is just to fashion a cutting board or something out of the current countertop. And i love the idea of open shelving to the left of the window if you go this route. Good luck!
