Mite problems

I have a Camellia I bought online that is heavily infested with some sort of mite. Since it's spring I'm wondering if I can just remove all the leaves from the plant, and let it grown in new ones. Would that get rid of the mites. I would prefer not to use Mitcides at all, they are so expensive, but I want to be completely rid of this pest, by any mechanical means. Any advice?
