Soybean meal?

I would like to apply about 20 lbs/1k but I rather not push top growth this spring. Does soybean meal push a lot of top growth or is it for the betterment of the soil?

Not too clear about how it really works.....

More than half of the soybeans grown worldwide are Genetically Engineered and so are not acceptable to many organic growers.

For the grass to get the nutrients in any meal the Soil Food Web needs to digest it, so whether an application might push top growth would depend on the health of the soil.
