We agree it should not be along the wall where the computer is but can't decide whether it should be along the wall next to the door. There's also the wall behind the toaster and next to the fridge - I'm thinking we leave it (well, paint it, but no tile). So the main question is whether to extend it to the right of the dishwasher, where the package of Oreos is.

I would extend it to the right of the dishwasher all the way to the end.

Susan - what about to the left? Would it look alright to have it stop at the wall where the computer is? So it's just along the one wall and a extended around the right corner?

You could do the backsplash to the left as well. I think it will look more complete if you do it all the way around.

Krissy - we are definitely at least doing it along that wall, since the sink and oven is where the splashing will be. I'm trying to figure out where it should stop - just that wall, or along 1 or both of the connecting walls as well?

IMHO I think it's ok to extend the tile beyond the cabinet. I worked with a designer on my kitchen and that's what we did.

I would just do the wall the stove is on - complete wall left to right. You will not have to worry about finishing edges that way. Plus there is no reason to have it on the other walls. You want it where you have the potential of splashes and spatters.
