With container gardening, you can definitely grow all of those, although certain varieties of some of them would be not recommended for containers. You would need a big container for zucchini, potatoes, and sunflower (depending on the variety), and a lot of sun. I'd use no smaller than a wide 7 gallon container for those. I also wouldn't try a large variety sunflower in a container since they get really big (I grew one that was over 12 feet tall), and you'd need to give it heavy soil so the container would be a pain to move and clean out after the relatively short life of the sunflower.

If you're using one of those hydro-gardens they sell on amazon, I'd stick to peppers, tomatoes, and herbs. They grow well in those. For tomatoes and peppers, make sure the variety you are growing does well in smaller containers. Some of the varieties can grow into large plants. The cherry tomato types are good for smaller containers, and they are much easier to grow than the larger varieties.

Cilantro is a winter crop here and does well in a container. Try basil for the summer. andy has given you some good tips, especially regarding the cherry tomatoes. It's hard to go wrong with Sweet 10's and maybe a yellow pear. Lettuce is also a winter crop here. A container of green onions would be fun, garlic chives. Carry on, do something.....if it works, do it again, if not make modifications and try again. Good luck.
