Are they 8 different varieties, or all the same variety? There are early, mid & late season varieties. Some of my peonies are up quite a bit, but I have 2 or 3 varieties that aren't up yet & I am a bit warmer zone than you.

Since you usually don't plant them too deep, you could carefully dig around where you planted them and see if you see the growth points poking out.

I was usually worried like that, too, but after a light brushing of soil away from the planted area, I saw the growth points enough times over the years, that I now trust those plants to come up, even if the other ones in my yard have already shown themselves (or in one case this year, I have one with about 6" stems and leaves while the others are just barely peaking out of the soil with their red stems)

A lot of the late bloomers show growth quite a bit later than others. If you decide to move some soil to see if you can find eyes be very, VERY careful--I've broken off eyes like that before!

I had a total of 7 different varieties. One nursery included an extra plant of one that they thought was small. That variety was Abalone Pearl. Others in that group were Old Faithful and Lois Choice. Two plants in this group are up. I have to look to see what the others were. I know two of them were Tourangelle and Mackinac Grand.

I have all of those and none are up yet in my zone 4b/5 garden.

I was out in the yard again today snooping around. I saw one of the missing ones peeking up through the mulch. So, now I guess I am still looking for the four others. I think there may be some hope.

Some of mine are way up and some haven't appeared yet, as usual. Don't panic yet.

As of today 2 more have appeared. So now I am missing only two. Perhaps they will make an appearance soon. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I transplanted mine because I didn't like its original position. Sad to say that as I moved the plant over to its new location, I saw a broken stem half-hanging off the root ball. So definitely take caution if you are going to poke around where you think the plants are, to find out if they're coming up.

I don't think you should worry about it dipping into the teens and 20s as long as the sprouts are still red. They are very cold hardy and I haven't seen them damaged very often since I've been growing. I have herbaceous, intersectional and tree peonies, and late freezes never effect them here in upstate NY.

Some come up sooner than others. Here's the development mine are at on average. The last one to come up appeared this morning. All are now at least up. Some have flower buds. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will all be okay and do well. I just hope that the weather will not be causing big problems like it can this time of year.
