GEC Cabinets Depot - reputable?

Does anyone know if GEC Cabinets Depot (https://www.geccabinetdepot.com/) is reputable? I can't find any reviews on them other than the 7 from google reviews which I never take seriously.

I've visited the showroom and what I saw was average to below average. For the most part the front panels look good. Once I started looking at the details, that's where I was not impressed.

Here are a few examples:

Drawers don't open/close smoothly. They are the slow closing type rails but there seems to be quite a bit friction. That's not just 1 drawer. I've opened/closed many and not 1 opened/closed smoothly like they do at big box stores or even ikea.

There were a couple base cabinets on the showroom floor that have a gap larger than 1/4 of an inch where the left door panel meets the right door panel in a base cabinet. The gap was big enough that I could see inside the cabinets without opening the cabinet. Yikes...

The interior of the cabinets seems rough. The plywood is not something you could sand because they are all pre-stained. Once sanded, you'll have to re-stain...so more work?

If this is what the final product will look like and they have it on the floor, I give them a whole lot of credit to "show it like it is".

I don't know much about this company. I don't know how long it has been in business, but before they moved in it was Rockford Supply til about late 2010/early 2011. Pricewise, they are competitive and they are local (only is a benefit if I could do return/exchange). 1 year warranty which means nothing as anything can hold up 1 year.

Thoughts?

Competitive in price? Sound lousy otherwose. IKEA would be far better.

So you looked at them and have nothing good to say about them. Except competitive pricing. Do you mean the pricing is competitive to other low quality products?

I'm not understanding the competitive part. Or is the pricing is what your budget is in?

I just reported what I saw. I did say the front panels look nice...I said competitive - meaning around the ballpark of the other RTAs I've looked at (online) the last few months.

I really wanted it to work as the corner lazy Susan dimension is exactly what I need (36x36). I looked at cshardwares online, if I remember correctly, they have great products and reviews. Their lazy Susan corner cabs are 36x32. So won't work. IKEA actually would fit...might actually have to do that as a last resort. I am hesitant as houses in this area have really nice wooden cabs. Having an ikea kitchen might hurt me when I sell the place. Wish this was easier...

I do want to comment on gec, their customer service is pretty good during this pre-sales process. Questions were answered if not immediately in a couple hours. The kitchen design was pretty painless. I wish I had their software so I could play around myself. Hoping the quality was better though.

"Having an ikea kitchen might hurt me when I sell the place." Try Ikea cabinets with doors/drawer fronts from another source. But in California, you find million dollar homes with Ikea cabinets.

I have used GEC cabinets in at least 10 homes. Price is good...customer service is good...product that I have used is good. They are real plywood boxes.....not some builder grade chip board stuff....go together well. Drawers are soft close and dove tail construction so that will last...again not some stapled together crap. Takes me about 45 minutes to put base cabinets together and less for uppers. Only drawback is they cant do custom sizes but if you are doing the whole kitchen like we do we haven't needed custom either. Love the cabinets and used them in my own home as well!
