Where in Zone 5 are you? We have snow predicted for today and freezing temps at night all this week. I only have typical, early spring bulbs up, like crocus, snowdrops and those tiny iris. We have had some really warm days here and there, but they haven't lasted very long. I'm a bit concerned about how little snow we had all winter. I hope we get plenty of spring rains to keep the soil moist.

I'm in northwest Indiana, outside of Chicago. It's raining here now, been raining since last night although I see the forecast has changed since yesterday - might get a little snow tonight dipping to 35 degrees, Temps to remain in high 40s - mid 50s during the day. Forsythia is in bloom and lilacs, Korean spice viburnum, and azaleas aren't far behind. I'm scared that we'll get a late freeze and it will stunt all of my perennials, we also had very little snow this winter and I saw a prediction for a hot dry spring/summer so I suppose I'll be dragging the hose around.

Well Martha, the other shoe has dropped here. We've had freezing, we've had snow, sleet and unrelenting rain. Fingers crossed for some sunshine soon! Any progress on the drop irrigation system?

Martha, how is your drip system installation going? This is something I'd like to try and do this season, too, if I can figure out how to lay it all out and then figure out all the parts that will be needed.

Sylvia, I am so sorry to hear your early spring weather didn't hold. I think we're safely into spring here as just about everything is showing signs of growth now. Of course, mommy nature can turn on a dime but keeping fingers crossed it is now safe to plant out here in my area of the country.

I haven't done a thing. I think I will just buy normal hoses and several small sprinklers that I can move around. I only water in extreme dry times.
