Hoya question

I am interested in ordering Hoya Australis Lisa and Hoya Pubicalyx silver splash. I found some on eBay in Canada. They are shipping them in the pot. Do I have to make sure that the seller has a phytosanitary certificate and/or CITES. Someone told me that they don't need CITES but I'm not sure about a phytosanitary certificate. The seller is from Poland and told me they don't have a phytosanitary certificate. I'm just worried about ordering them and the plants getting seized if they don't have the proper documentation when going through Customs. Can anyone clarify for me whether Hoyas need phytosanitary certificates to clear customs please. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I do believe that ALL International orders require a phyto. At least here, in the USA. No hoya (that I know of) requires a CITES certificate.

I found this info, which may help you:

Wow puglvr1! That is one gorgeous plant!! I'm envious.

Wow I love your plant, it's gorgeous. I would love to get a starter plant from that plant. I'm not sure about cuttings since I have no experience with Hoya cuttings and not sure if you would have to use rooting hormone. I've never used rooting hormone either lol, so I'm not sure how it works lol.

You don't need rooting hormone to root hoyas! Just pop them in a pot with fine orchid mix (soak mix overnight, rinse in the morning, and then put in pot) and give them a nice, warm area with bright, filtered or indirect sun, and wait a week or two. Lightly mist once a day. Depending on what kind of hoya, you may need to water the cutting once a week.

Pug, I don't see where you are set up to be contacted through this site or I'd be saying, hey girlfriend, I wanna trade for some of this!! It's beautiful... You can click on my name and there is a "message" link. I know I had your e-mail at one time... but I can't find it now. Does Lisa grow fast? My experience is that australis cultivars grow fast, but variegated ones... not so much. So I'm wondering what happens when you have a fast growing species in the variegated form... fast or not as fast??

    Thanks All!!

I cannot figure out how to get emails through this website, ugh!! I use to have it on the old GW...that was pretty easy to do, but this one has me confused!

Denise, I found an old email for you in contact info...I sent you an email. Hopefully you haven't changed it...LMK if you don't get it.

This is the same Hoya when I got it back aruond 2010...sot its about 6 years old

This particular hoya is what I consider a fairly decent grower...but not as fast as the regular australis. Not a slow grower for me by any means.

Pug, what is the plant on the left. Is it hoya Kalimantan? Thanks

    Yes, I believe it is...

This is that same cutting...I took this pic today...

Pug, Thank you for the info. I tried to message you but seems I cannot. Even after I followed you. I think you did not enable other people to message you in your profile? To enable other people to be able to message you, once you logged into Houzz(gardenweb), click on "your houzz" (on the top-right corner), then choice "edit profile", then "advance settings", scroll down to almost the bottom, there is a "Who can message me" drop down list, you can choose "allow anyone to message me" so that anybody can message you.

I 'd appreciate if you can message me since I cannot msg nor email you. Thank you.
