Great Picture, mine are way behind this is Northland :

You both have very nice looking blueberry plants. Makes me want to start them again.

    My blueberry habitat:

After years of just draping BirdBlock over the bushes, this year I built out a 9'x9' PVC structure. The BirdBlock is draped over the PVC and is much easier to work with. There are five blueberry bushes and one boysenberry in there.

    Thanks for sharing,

That looks like a good set up , I tried to build something similar last year too only a bit more precarious than yours. I still have a few months before mine start fruiting again and I have more bushes to protect from hungry birds than I had last year.

here's a picture taken from the side, you can admire my diy skills...

I don't even know how those posts didn't blow away in wind they weren' t harpooned in the ground as it was meant to be a temporary cage, well it lasted 3 months though.

I put short rebar stakes in the ground and slide the PVC pipes over them for my little habitat. :)

I have nothing set up, but prolific blueberries this year. (Most plants were started 2013 or 2014 If I heed the tags.) Will the birds go after them before they start to turn color or get ripe?

In my locale the birds leave the green berries alone, but start hitting the berries as they ripen. Best to cover the bushes a little early so that you can harvest them as they start to come in.

Here's 'Sunshine Blue' with a few just now starting to color up:

We've had rain and cooler weather for a few days now, which is very welcome. But it has held back blueberry production a bit. Still a few "snackers" are trickling in right now:

Surprisingly enough, 'Sunshine Blue' is coloring up most of the berries.

Wow! Sunshine blue is considered a late cultivar this side of the Atlantic . Most of mine haven't fully broken buds yet. We had an unusually mild winter followed by a cold spring so far , my plants are all over the place .

SB is my latest BB here too. One of them is acting normally and the other is running way ahead of everything else. Big berries too. Crazy stuff.

My chandlers are just now getting leaves. :(

    My sunshine just set berries

    Coming in strong now:

Mrclint how old are your bushes?

Most of my bushes are six years old. I added a 'Sharpblue' last year, which being very young still, is coming in with nice crispness but somewhat bland flavor. The jury is still out on that one.
