I have read a lot and watched vids. I never saw them cutting into the caudex and then grafting. Is there a reason for not doing this? Especially if you want to build up the root system.

have you seen where they do multi grafted to flat top of the caudex? Or do they just let it sprout?

Also to obtain a thick root system do you first put the young plant in a avg pot instead of a Bonsai one. The later lift and replant?

I know I have been asking a lot of you. I really appreciate all the answers. Now I can get my grafted plants, seedlings and seeds and study what I want to try first. Oh course I will be letting a few plants just grow and bloom. But I really look forward to playing Thanks for your insight so far
