Take all that framing out and then get new cabinets this makes noe sense at all to try and work with, what is on the top?

Patricia Colwell has never lived in "banana land" (no insult intended) has she? Find a local craftsman to construct heavy duty face frames and attach them to the inside of the openings. See some examples of his work before deciding whom to hire. Attaching them with proper masonry screws and anchors is paramount as they will have to bear the weight of the doors. Then have the doors made and mounted. If you can obtain the hinges, screws etc. from someone Stateside you will have a better outcome. It took me almost two years in Bolivia and one year in Argentina to complete my kitchens there.

Laughing...they always "forget" the toe space! Do you also have the propane bottle for the range inside the cabinet and the main turn off on the wall above the range? Or are you "classy" and have natural gas?

we use LPG bottles, no main gas lines here chipflipper

One more thing. I went about 4 years with roller shades that were intended for windows but I cut and tied them short and inserted them into the frame. I had to save $$ for my doors. I looked for a photo but couldn't find it.

that sounds like a great idea J! in fact I wanted to use some sort of accordion/folding door while we saved for the wood doors, but they are kinda hard to come by here as it's not something popular

in tropical countries like us here in the Philippines we only have two seasons..rainy and sunny..and summer is great and hot but the rainy season are what we prepare for...we never know when it's gonna rain too much and floods are inevitable especially if your house is not elevated. it's best to have concrete and not worry about molds and all that stuff. I have concrete kitchen like yours and only hope that the carpenter we'll hire would be able to get the design and aesthetic in my "vision" hahahah i don't wanna have a laminated modular kitchens which are all the fuss here nowadays....so as you know u are not the only one who has the same dilemma
