I think you can grow that one into a big beautiful speciman. Just needs a little loving care and room to grow. I have been thinking about buying one very similar if not the same. Not sure of the name though.

I'm not sure what it is either, no tag and it's not for me anyway, distinguished enough for me to match a name to, no matter. I was kinda hoping the nursery owner would give me a discount seeing how there was no getting around having to repot it immediately and I took it home in a bag because the pot was crumbling - but on second thought, based on the size pot I had to put it into because of bursting rhizomes, it would have been twice the price had he done it himself so we both won on this one.

The little one is Mikado, I think it's in a juvenile form, it may get tall taller Mikado, time will tell. Mikado photo I've seen them at all my favorite haunts, always like that, small and grassy. Mikado on Gardenweb

Yes, it does have the same patterns on the leaves as masoniana - the leaves are folded at the bases, some all the way up (like taco shells) - probably a clue as to what it is. Thank you for your encouragement.

I would wipe down the leaves, each side with a wet sponge, it will make the green in the leaves really pop!

I surely did that as they were all spotted with minerals from water. This plant has really matte leaves, the schweinfurthii that came home with me at the same time is smooth, shiny and dark green, it looks "brand new."
