These will probably be ripped out by the time you are finished renoing because you will need new insulation up there for sure . I can't tell from the picture what they are like to strip them will be almost impossible so repainting is probably the answer but from what I see there are spaces between some so not attached properly .This is abig job so high up good luck.

I've had clients paint these tiles but they always look best with a glossier finish- like semi-gloss. That may complicate your paint job though...

I would have them ripped out and have the ceiling resurfaced so that you could paint your ceiling without having any problems.
