I think I have seen that one but I can't remember. I'll watch later. One thing that really makes me sick is the way chickens are raised. My brother in law is now raising 70-100 chickens a year for everyone in our family to have good eggs and good meat. I'm growing the fruits and veggies at my place. Haven't figured out which of my other three brothers will start raising hogs. Lol. May just have to go hunt the wild ones.

I was talking to a fellow a couple of days ago who said he and his family really like the wild hogs. They put up a few each year. He wants me to teach him and his daughters how to can the meat.

Maybe I will get to take a few quarts home.

PS - I prefer RIR. They are almost bullet proof. I plant about 1/10 of an acre in cereal rye every Fall just for them to eat all Winter.

oh my gosh. Seriously. I knew that several years ago when our collective "family" made the decision to stop buying meat marketed in the grocery stores that it was a wise choice to stay away from the "pink slime". I suspected this was what was behind it all...but to see documented proof makes me sick. Our ancestors must be turning over in their graves and having a collective "DUH!" moment over the cumulative situation. We (my extended family) buy beef and pork from local sources that are naturally grazed animals...and yes, it's pricey up front but worth the quality. And honestly, we pay $4.79/lb of beef when we buy it by the "side". Less than that for a whole hog. Still makes sense and better savings/flavor/knowledge of what we are eating. However, this made me want to go buy a chicken coupe and spend the necessary time growing my own poultry too. Just not enough hours in the day until retirement or I'd have my own chickens too. Thank you, Johnny! More need to see this. And you stand on your soap box anytime!!!
