The MOST AWESOME bedroom EVER!!!!!

Just kidding. ;)

I just wanted to share our master bedroom remodel, and nothing grabs views like a flashy title. :) Turned our tiny, cramped, master bedroom into a lovely, open, bright master bedroom that converts to a comfortable craft room/sitting room/yoga studio/chill out area. Jump on in and enjoy the ride!

The room is 10' x 9' 6", and when we bought the house, despite its size, we felt it had awesome potential.

The bay window let it tons of light and the sitting spot was the bomb. The layout was very livable and the color was OK. We did not like the colonial style trim and the chair rail, we're for the flat profile modified Craftsman style, , but that is an easy fix.

Like I said, the layout was livable, until we put our bed in it. Its queen sized and it took up the WHOLE room! There was no room for anything but sleeping and getting dressed. Also the wood on wood on wood on wood look drives us nuts. We love wood, but as an accent, not a feature.

So remodel it was!

I thought it would be a three day trim and paint project. Until I removed the trim and the wallpaper I didn't know was there came off with it! Then came removing the chair rail, and lo and behold, they had installed some 1/8" lauan to hid some minor damage to the walls. Grr! SO, I had to skim coat the walls to cover the damage. Three days gone.

We also hand sanded the floor, expanded the closet entrance, and installed new trim. The plan was to dismantled our queen sized horizontal Murphy bed that was in the basement and move it up the next day. That night, I may have had a few too many malted beverages and jumped into the Murphy bed with a tad too much gusto. Upon landing from a height of approximately 6' (1.8 m), the bed promptly broke in half. AH!

Bed in the our basement before the drunken damage:

So, the three day project turned into a 10 day project as I had to rebuild the bed, too. We painted the floor and walls, installed the bed, got some rad furniture from Target and the thrift store, and we were ready to rock!

Wanted to thank you folks for your positive feedback. Pretty awesome to have a community of people who understand, and appreciate, the effort, passion, and time that go into doing any project. Its also great to have a community of people mature enough to understand that not everyone's tastes align. After all, that diversity is a big part of what makes all this so fun!
