Gorgeous! any historic covenants?

I think it needs a new color of roof...of course if that one is perfectly good, I'd wait until it needs replaced. I'd go with something with a bit of architectural "interest", too...what area are you in, and what do the other houses have as roofs? (The ones with interesting roofs.)

I'd paint the trim and the gables a color other than white..I'mm not good with picking out colors, though. :)

No historic covenants, just HOA, but they are pretty flexible as long as it looks nice. I'm in the south (NC) and we actually do need to replace the roof, so I'm open to color suggestions (would need to stick with asphalt shingles in my area).
Yes, I think the white is pretty boring, too. :-)

I think you should go with some dark to medium grays for the trim and the roof...or a black roof.
I would also change the door color. Not sure if it's the photo, but it seems a little too bright of a red. The house is beautiful btw!!
One more thing that I would do since you just bought it, is wait until this spring and see what flowers or bulbs may pop up before adjusting any landscaping. Once you see everything that may be underground right now, you can figure out what to remove and what to add.
You may also want to build something roof-like that comes out from the front door...either an actual portico or some sort of pergola type structure. Can't tell by pic what's over the door right now.???

Great suggestions -- thanks! There's a big ugly vine and nothing more over the door right now! I will get rid of that thing as soon as possible. The stoop has no covering at all and I would love to have something over that. We moved from a farmhouse with a big front porch and we do miss that.

And you are correct -- the door is very red....and loud. :-)

hatch...here's another gray green color that is very pretty I think...and very classy looking with brick. You may want to consider something in this family for your trim colors too! It would look good with a black door or more of the deeper color of your brick, like a very deep terracotta color, or a stained wood door...

Do you think that vine is a wysteria over the door?

That is a great color! I had not thought of that, but love it. That would give my home a very different (but still very classy) look from the others on my street, too.
Not sure if that is wysteria or not.....it looks dead and diseased. I can see if it comes to life in the spring, but it looks like it's in bad shape right now.

Beautiful home that would be made much more so with the suggestions of using gray or black on the trim. Assuming that the sidewalk from the entrance that appears to swing around to the left side is there to stay I've doodled my design ideas for a landscape. Didn't have the room to show it on the photo but the flower bed from the large evergreen on the left swings around in a curve to the entrance and is filled with a mixture of low growing evergreens ( boxwood, etc ) rose shrubs and perennials and annuals.

What about GAF roof Thunderstorm Gray with Benjamin Moore exterior paint Stampede? I agree with the shutters, porch, and plantings. The house is beautiful. Congratulations.

That would look great, too....thank you! I really like the gray...that's a nice dark, but not too dark shade.

Many houses in my neighborhood have same color brick. I love the dark gray above. I have seen trim colors in a dark taupe, medium taupe, or dark brown. Also a darker army green would work. it is a tricky color to find but it is beautiful. similar to what is above in one of the pics. Shutters may help a lot. Hopefully there is enough of room in between the windows. A portico would probably look good. New roof eventually and front door needs a change of color. Of course landscaping also.
