If you look at the picture on the Quilterscache directions, the white portion of the block is wide and the white part of the HST blocks face in. We have REVERSED, the white and color in the block, so the white kind of frames the outside edges of the block and the blue is the narrow strip. I used a tone-on-tone blue for the color one (not the center squares), but I think if you keep it a subtle print so you don't overwhelm the center square print, that is fine. Blended, single, tone-on-tone, small print that reads as solid. Does that help??? Let me know if you need more clarification.
