I frequent the local shows as well and there is a vendor for birdhouses I love . I only have 2 myself but have given them as gifts and they are always a hit! I love to see unique pieces in gardens! :)

Thank you both. :) I have a climbing rose called the Charlestonian on the post with the one I want to replace this one with but I'll have to cut it back quite a bit to get in there to put this new one as it's much bigger now than when that picture was taken. Here is an old picture taken behind the bed that has the first one I bought.

Birds actually build nests inside it but I think it's actually supposed to be a feeder. I love to have a focal point or a little something like a small fountain or statue here and there, I think that kind of thing really just adds so much charm to cottage gardens. I think it's one of those elements of a cottage garden. The guy who makes these really makes them well made, that one in the pic is still looking in great shape after 7 years. Maybe he'll travel up your way some day!

Coming up is the flower festival at the farmers market in 2 weeks! Whoohoo!

Well I went out to see about switching them out and a mocking bird has nested in it so I guess it will have to wait. That makes three nesting birds this year all at the same time, a pair of nuthatches that come back every year, bluebirds that also come back every year and now the mocking birds. I love a garden that welcomes all sorts of creatures, even the occasional snake (as long as it's not poinsionous that is).

I do think it's a sign! That and the fact that that same wonderful husband of mine bought me a 4-cycle mantis tiller. So yes I have big plans for the future! I still want the bird house in that spot, that's a bad angle in the picture but it sits in front of a large bed at the top of my yard so it's the perfect focal point for it. But that old one I think will definitely need a new flower bed.

So glad you have blue birds to enjoy too! I adore them. My friend bought a blue bird house last year and didn't get any and I told her wait till the wood ages and they will move right in and sure enough that's what they did. Same for the nuthatches I guess these two prefer more natural looking homes. I can't believe you already have honeysuckle blooming. So lucky! Still waiting on that and my confederate jasmine but I do have lots of roses in bloom right now they are beginning their spring flush and the garden smells wonderful with their scent. I hope your weather is as beautiful as ours has been, sounds like you're having a great spring so far!

Wow how exciting to get a tiller!! If I had one I'd be unstoppable .

I had no idea bluebirds prefer aged wood! I wouldn't mind putting a few more up next spring , assuming they share their territory . We had swallows in the eaves under our deck for a few years but I haven't seen them this year :( I do hope they return.

Thats awesome your roses are blooming! Please share pics. :) I'll do the same when mine start. I have some buds but not many yet. The honeysuckle is gold flame , it's one of my favorite . When it is in full bloom I'll get pictures.

I sure am enjoying some nice weather ! I was able to plant day Lily's that came, liaratis bulbs, roses and do some transplanting of roses. Last year I planted a lot in my yard not in beds, and the lawn got away from me . Started to smother bands, and some were carelessly run over. :( I was pregnant all summer so I was very limited in what I could do! I had no energy let alone ability to bend over! Lol

so I moved the roses from the lawn to beds and will get them some amendments soon. I can't wait to get mulch and some filler plants !

Lilyfinch, I think I have the same honeysuckle (which is blooming now), mine is called lemonade or pink lemonade which I have read that it's actually the same plant. I'll have to take a picture and you can tell me if it looks like yours. It's very pretty. Mine is young, my mother got me two last Mother's Day. Would love to see pictures of yours!

This is the only pic so far I have taken , it's much more covered in blooms now! My other honeysuckle is red and orange and is still small. I hope it takes off this year !

There is a metal trellis under there.. I think next fall I will cut it all the way down and remove the trellis so it can use the fence as support .

This one, I decided to change the color . It was hot pink!

This was the first I bought years ago but finally put up . It's in front of a bright pink crepe myrtle. I think it'll be beautiful in bloom!!

Looking good! You need to change the size in the edit option on your phone. I can't remember which one works. I know it's a pain! Maybe the birds will like that color better? I sure think it's pretty. Your view looks very pretty too! The Mocking bird eggs hatched in the one I was going to replace with the new bird house. Three little babies.

Then I noticed a cardinal kept flying out of one of my rose bushes so I checked and low and behold she had a best of eggs right inside it!

Actually Lilyfinch it doesn't looked squashed when I look at it but I've seen my pictures squashed before. Good to know though Annette, thanks, guess we don't need to worry about it then. :)
