Help me fill this space.

Hello,

We have this empty space, until recently it had a sage green couch. Which did not look good at all. I was thinking of adding accent chairs, but I'm not sure what to do. We can't remodel the fireplace at the moment.

The curtain has a deep violet hue (it's reading black) if that helps any. I'm thinking of adding an accent rug...but don't know what yet. It's a very small space, which is another reason we got rid of the couch. (Made the room look smaller).

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Go with a small frame sofa (no over-sized or rolled arms) and two small but comfortable chairs. You have room to have more than two chairs in this room.

Since you already have the strong dark colors, I'd lean towards the white of your trim, candlesticks, mantle, and artwork for the couch. And also in a very simple style, since you have the strong print in the curtain. For the accent chairs, go wild with the hot pink of your accessories. That will really make the room pop! If that's to bold for you, just put that color in the accessories. Measure twice, buy once!

You could also light up the floor by throwing a double sheepskin rug

If your sofa has legs it will make the room feel more open. If you go with a skirt on the sofa then make sure the chairs have legs. Don't have all pieces with skirt or all with legs.

Small coffee table. Nothing heavy or chunky. Glass or Lucite.

Yes, the walls are dark grey, at least the two you see on the picture. The opposite walls are also grey but much lighter in value, about 50%. (Stairwell is even lighter.) my front door is red. I'm not opposed to bold hues at all, love it!

My dinning table is on the opposite side. This room is supposed to be the living room, but we have a family room that is used a whole lot more. Thureeyhetsgfdh

My apologies, the 4 year old got a whole of my phone.

Here is a picture of the room, please excuse the mess on the table, we are painting the kitchen.

Also, we are thinking of moving by Summer's end, so we are doing small updates to have the house ready for buyers.

Another thing is this hideous chandelier I'm having a really hard time choosing something to go with the room.

Any ideas on this issue also appreciated.

What do you all think of this? 15" in diameter 16" in height. Or something similar?
