We put a chair rail up in our kitchen....oak colored like the cupboards and painted both upper and lower walls above the rail the same color as the walls. I am trying to convince my husband to take the rail off since we have changed chairs and it is not useful....but will be a job patching holes and etc. I would not do it again.
