I removed one cutting and potted it in a clear cup....it had nice roots...crossing my fingers

In order for figs to root quickly and continue to grow from there, it's important to provide as much as an environment as you would an orchid..They need high humidity in doors but also at the same time moving air...This is why so many people fail..They provide the moisture with bags, but will continue to do so as the leaves start to appear causing rot and disease...

Once you see any type of stub growing, keep a moving fan near by and uncover at night...Do you have a humidifier? For me it's a must if rooting indoors after the baggies have been lifted off.

if the leaves turned black (rotted) and fell off is there a chance it will recover?

There is always a chance) If the cutting is still green when lightly scratch, it is ok,,Give them time...Sometimes they will try to blast of a few leaves of growth, then they drop off, but then comes another once it gets use to the conditions you provide it...Remember to use moving air once green starts to appear and do not let moisture touch the growth, especially at night unless you have air movement..

I wont be burying the cuttings completely anymore. The roots grow all along the cutting, there is no top or bottom. I'm going to try and pull them out of the potting soil and plant them the traditional way.
