How can I make my eight foot tall door appear taller?

I'm crying! My architect planned for a beautiful 10' tall wrought iron front door, but I accidentally bought an 8' tall instead. Now I've messed up his straight horizon of windows and front door.
He's so angry he took his business advertising sign away from my front lawn.
Does any one have any suggestions how 24" of space can be filled in to bring the front door up to its horizon! Right now I have 8" of door trim. I was thinking about adding another 6" of trim plus a keystone that would peek above another 3". But im not sure trim would fill the space. Thoughts?

Return the 8 foot door & buy the ten foot one the architect suggested. You will never be sorry.

is it possible to have your doors remade at the correct height? use this pair on the back side of the house maybe? The only way I can see these carrying the horizon line would be with a transom above.

Totally agree with Sandradclark! Return the 8 foot door and get the correct ones. You will kick yourself every time you look at the front of the house if you don't. Compared to the cost that you have already spent on the house the door is not that huge of an overage.

If you are not able to return the door and don't want to bite the bullet, you could install a horizontal glass transom light above the door.

I know the struggles of having a custom door that cannot be returned! I think the best option would be to get a Transom added to even out the space.
