Floral dresden update

I asked for suggestion on what to do with some small floral fabric a while ago. I got some great suggestions. I tried a few different blocks but none of them had that "unique" look I was looking for. Someone suggested Dresden plate. I am not a fan of the traditional Dresden plate quilts but I found so many variations when I googled that I decided to try a block or two.

Here's what I came up with - various forms of Dresden using a 30 deg and a 15 deg ruler, with a lot of white space to give a modern look. I've just laid them on a white twin sheet (hence the awful creases). I'm planning to quilt them on to a WOW or a solid white.

I've come to like the random placement of Dresden Plates. I know of a gal who is making one for her sister......a king size. She is attaching the plates with various embroidery stitches and sometimes there are 'double' Dresdens as the center might be large enough to have a smaller Dresden cover it. Your's is going to be fun, Vasu.

I love your design as well. But, before you start stitching it down, you might want to try it on a light grey fabric background to see how you like it.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I will be making a few more a double Dresden is one of them.

Light grey is a great idea. I will try both white and grey. I've also seen some quilts with a pieced background, which adds to the randomness. I take pictures of individual blocks and us powerpoint to audition different layouts.

The plates are beautiful. I'm a fan of the Dresden pattern. Would love to see it laid out on a gray.
