Hi, back corner of the garden always goes boggy & mossy this time of year.

I decided bore some holes around 2ft deep with a auger around 15cm
wide, initially i could see the water from surrounding area trickling
through into the holes so the holes are working.

However, the holes themselves don't seem to be draining very quick atall.

I've considered two options.

1) fill hole mostly with pea gravel and dress with soil / turf so the holes act as "mini dry wells"

2) backfill fill with manure / compost & repeat next year to try and improve the conditions

any advice?
