I just got back! Got 5 heuchera, 2 buddlea, a coneflower, and a bunch of peppers and tomatoes.

Also, lots of construction down that way. Google maps says use Raleigh, but it's closed. We got detoured to Stuart, but the entrance to the school was blocked. Go down Utica-- greenhouse is across from the lake :-)

We went at about 9:30. I got two fan flower, a couple of double-calibrachoa (which i've never seen double before), something called a Mona Lavendar, a deep purple perennial osteospurmum, and a trailing iceplant. All for $20. I plan to go back May 7 for more annuals. They will have all new plants then.

I saw a couple of dwarf buddleia but they were all sold! I wandered around for a while hoping to find another, but no luck.

I recommend going down Lowell to 68th and heading West or Sheridan to 68th, go east, when you hit the dead end turn right and it winds down to the bottom of the school where the greenhouse is.

On May 7, there is also another plant sale very close to the HS on 72nd and Irving. I've been going to that for several years and always leave with some nice plants.

Ooo, sorry I missed it this weekend. Will try to go on the last one on May 7th!

The next one should be better so you didn't miss much yesterday. My suggestion is to go early as some early birds like to reserve a whole section of plants.

I like the way you think, mstywoods! It'll be better than a cup of coffee to get you jazzed up for moving, to go play with plants first! And I can even babysit them for you until after you're finished moving, you can swing by my place after you leave Lakewood, if that helps?

So popmama - is Sat's event at Westminster HS on 6933 Raleigh St? You said it would be near the HS on Irving, so not sure.

Thanks for the offer, Mayberry! I think I'll be ok, though. I'm mainly going down to get my daughter's cat and bring her back home with me so she doesn't get out during the moving, and I'll also bring back a few things (she's going to stay with us for a couple of weeks until her next apartment is ready for her to move into). So any plants I get at the sale should be fine in my car as they won't be in there all day or anything like that.

mstywoods, no the other plant sale (called Happy Transplants) is on Irving. The Westminster High School Plant sale is at Westminster High which is on Raleigh. But don't try to turn down Raleigh from really anywhere! You will want to go on Lowell to 68th Avenue and go West. You won't be able to miss the greenhouse on your right.

The HS is also having a garage sale tomorrow in the school building.

We were going to try to go at 8:30, but we can try to meet your earlier if you think you want to go earlier. However, it sounds like you may be rushed so there may not be much time for socializing.

Yea, I will be in a bit of a hurry. But would love to meet up with you there and visit a little anyway :) I do plan to get there right at 8. I'll wear a shirt that might be easy to spot - olive green background with light green palm leaf pattern print.

I bought too much I'm sure, but then again maybe it wasn't enough. It's all in the garage now waiting for better days. Nice to see you again, Mstywoods!

I got two dwarf butterfly bushes, two large 6-packs of marigolds (for my tomatoes), two small portulaca, two medium-sized morning glory, two 4-packs of dianthus, two 4-packs of snapdragon, a large hollyhock all for $23. Not bad.

And it didn't rain on me!

I only got a few things--probably not enough! I'm going to have very limited gardening time this year, tho, so it's probably good that I got less. I got a 6-pack of "parsley" which was actually 2 parsley plants and 4 marigolds, a couple of the buck geraniums (wonder what color they'll be? LOL) and some other bedding flowers. I did also get 3 hanging pots, which were $12.50 each, but really, still quite the bargain, with the combinations of flowers in them. Ended up spending $57 (EEK! didn't mean to!) but still feel like I got a pretty good deal. Mine are now on the front porch--they were safe from that FREAK hailstorm that we had later that day!

Wish we had been able to say "hello". Next time I'll wear something yellow and tell you to look for the yellow scarf or something so you know where I am. :-)
