Tulip flower shriveled before bloom

Hello. I bought a potted tulip from store last 2 weeks hoping that it will bloom very soon as I saw there are flower buds coming out. I kept them indoor and watered them twice a week. Today, when I checked on my plant, the flower bud shriveled before it gets to bloom. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is causing this? There is little shoots from the bulb too. Will they grow again if I cut the current stalks? This is my first potted tulip plants. What would be my next step?

Hope they can be saved. Your advice and help is very much appreciated. Thanks.

Those are seriously unhappy tulips. Probably something went wrong before you got them. Anyway, I am sorry, but there is no hope for another flower. I would not even want to plant them out in the garden if you are in a cooler zone, simply to be safe from any diseases. In the garbage, and better luck next time.

Get your money back.

I'm not sure I've identified the buds and there is more than one cause for shriveled buds.

Bulb foliage is always allowed to age (turn yellow) before cutting. It is feeding the bulb for next year's bloom. But only certain types of tulips will naturalize in certain climates.

Thank you for all the advice. Since this is my first tulip plant, I will still keep it and wait for it to wilt, check its bulb etc. Hope I have better luck in picking a healthy plant next time.
