composting question

I use soy bean meal on my lawn and occasionally put it under the drip line of my perennials. I have used compost in the past to help retain moisture and keep the tree seeds from the neighbors trees at bay (I swear every seed sprouts) I also like to cover the soaker hose with it. I was considering trying manure. I have read pros and cons. . . the unrippened seeds in manure scares me. . . if not either of these, what would be a good choice? Tell me what you use and if you love/hate compost/manure. Thanks !

There are some plant seeds that make it through an animals digestive system and I think people that make a really big fuss about "weed" seeds ion manure fail to understand that unwanted plant seeds fly through the air, are dropped as birds fly over or are even carried into the garden on animal fur.

"Weeds ", unwanted plants are a fact of life and will grow where ever they want to.
