To prevent it from happening again, deadhead (remove spent blooms) before they drop their seeds.

Better yet, deadhead before they bloom.

Vetches and chives both spread around the garden via seeds more than from root spread.. Keep both dead headed.

Can't use roundup on the vetch without killing lots of my perennials. It just is hard to get out.

On the bright side, now I know what those cute little flowers in my lawn are. They make me hungry when I mow them.

I was overrun with crown vetch and , eventually, got it all out (and yes it was mixed in my perennials but be persistant...it took a couple of years to get rid of it) ....but I have a hillside garden and am now OVERRUN with chives!! They are popping up everywhere....I am digging them out and when I turn the dirt I find more deep underneath. I dug and sprayed with roundup but I doubt if I eradicated them....anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of them (I have a LARGE area)

Many years ago I planted Crown Vetch in an area that would not grow much else, not even Quack grass and it started invading other areas but continuous mowing kept it in check. Now it appears that the Quack grass has moved in an is pushing the Crown Vetch out.
