Grande Dame Bouquet

I love how Grande Dame nods and the fragrance is so strong. This year I have tons of buds and blooms on her, but she did throw out some very long canes that ended up falling over because of the many buds were weighing it down. As a cut flower the blooms last about a week .

I really like Grande Dame. Mine didn't bloom any last year for some strange reason but has lots of buds this year. Yours looks beautiful!!

Thank you Sharlene.. the big monster rose that looks white is actually Teasing Georgia an Austin... it fades to a washed out yellow white in the sun. But if your talking about the whitish ones between the Grande Dame its Climbing Eden.. which is making its first debut in 2 years!

Thanks Prettypetals, the first year i had GD in the ground I only got one to two blooms. this is its second year in the ground.

Mine is on the second year too and has many buds ready to open any day. Such a beautiful and fragrant rose, if only the canes weren't so long and spindly.

They look lovely! I have a second year one too, setting on quite a few, but not as many as yours and Matthew's. Really like the color of yours in the pictures.

I can't say that I am, they just flop over from the weight of the blooms.

Thank you Denise.. the blooms and fragrance are to die for. GD also have a good vase life.

The second flush this year is much less leggy and droopy than the first!

I agree with you Matthew... my second flush was as well... and now GD has went to sleep in our 100+ degrees weather.

For now I'm staking the new canes, hope she grows out of this! Mine is in its 2nd first year, I had to move it...

I absolutely love Grande Dame, even in my limited space I may just plant a second one!

Fragrance!!!!???? My Grande Dame is holding out on me!!

I love Grande Dame - but if it had fragrance too - wow!!!! Maybe the fragrance will come in next year.

Your bouquets are perfection!! You really showcase what a splendid rose this is.

Your GD is definitely holding out on you! :) I smelled her at the Columbus Park of Roses on a REALLY hot day and she was super fragrant and healthy looking. Much shorter than these pics, but I think many of theirs are recent planting.

Thanks April and Rosecanadian.. it really is a lovely bush as long as you dont mind the nodding blooms (which I dont) the fragrance, color and bloom form won me over.

Now I can't wait for the fragrance to kick in. That happens all the time for my roses - it takes a few years for the fragrance to kick in - maybe it's because we're cooler here??

    Haku84 - I don't mind the nodding blooms either.
