How about if you post some photos and then we can take a look at the cabinets and be able to make suggestions. :)

I'm partial to neat and clean. I'd clean up your countertop and put away anything you don't absolutely need. Any way to put your microwave on a cart elsewhere in your kitchen?

You could paint the cabinet boxes, add some under cabinet lights, a window treatment, add pulls and paint - you'd have a whole different feel.

I'd paint with some stencil detailing. You can get stencils in all sorts of styles.

I'd add some type of trim to the doors, inset, that mimics the door shape - and paint as suggested above. Then top off w/some awesome hardware and Voila!

I would change the counter tops to granite, no one will notice the cabinets

@tckemly.....If it's not in the budget to do new cabinets, it wouldn't be in the budget to do granite.

I agree with the suggestion to paint the doors and add handles or knobs. Also removing the clutter will make your kitchen seem larger.

my sympathies. I have exactly the same cabinets in kitchen and baths. I repainted them in the smaller bath, following ALL the many steps that the professionals advised. they turned out beautifully, but were an enormous amount of work! I am having serious second thoughts about doing my huge kitchen because of the amount of work involved.

I know this wasn't your question, but is changing wall color an option? On my monitor, the current color looks a little dark and muddy. I actually like your cabinets though!

Maybe something brighter on the walls and perhaps even a wall decal in white to tie that wall back to the other side. This one is a nursery but I like the decal.
